These text works are made in Lazertran on aluminium. The texts are from The Kalevala Canto 49 'Moon and Sun' and were text offerings to the elements made in situ in the Koli  landscape in 2008 and documented photographically (so they are not digitally manipulated). In making these text offerings I  am aware that many of these narratives in the Kalevala originate as shamanic songs that were sung in the Karelian landscape and so I return these words to land of their origins as a homage and recognition of self and nature as configurations of the elements. Through aligning with the elements in this way  the artist opens up to the possibility of the creative or egoless state from which new experience and new work is generated. These text offerings therefore are integral to the generation of the abstract drawings that I also make from the Koli landscape.
